CLUB HISTORY
The Daylesford Bowling Club was established on 17 April 1899 and officially opened on 20 December 1899, with 64 founding members. The club’s first President was J. Wheeler and the first Secretary was J. Anderson.
In 1904, the club joined the North Western District Bowling Association, and by 1907, it had combined with the Daylesford Tennis Club to form the Daylesford Bowling and Tennis Club. At that time, the bowling club featured four rinks, while the tennis club offered two asphalt courts, creating a lively sporting and social hub for the community.
The early clubhouse included a tea kiosk and a club room with two billiard tables, which hosted socials, dances, and euchre nights through the winter months. By 1927, there were 43 bowlers and 45 tennis players, and Dr. Adam was crowned the first Club Champion.
Today, the club proudly maintains two bent grass greens and a membership of around 70 bowlers. More than a century after its founding, the Daylesford Bowling Club continues to honour its rich history while embracing the future of the game and the community it serves.
